Mycorrhiza is the symbiosis between plant roots and fungi which has been known for a long time. The benefits of the symbiosis get more important as they are not contained in customary composts and growing media and many soils show bad conditions with no active soil life. The symbiosis is a very close relation: in the cells of the roots nutrients, mainly phosphate and nitrate, are exchanged between plant and fungi. The mycorrhiza hyphae grow intensively in the soil which leads to an increased water supply so that mycorrhizal plants are much better adapted to drought. Besides these advantages for the host plant an intact mycorrhiza will also stabilise the plants resistance against phytopathogenous microorganisms.
Where and how can I apply Mycorrhiza?
Field of Application |
Application (examples) |
| Garden and Landscaping | Spreading into the planting hole |
| Indoor greening | |
| Plant Production | Use of mycorrhized growing media |
| Recultivation | |
| Dyke renovation | |
| Roof planting | |
| Slope renovation | Blends of seeds and mycorrhiza for hydroseeding |
| Golf and sport greens | During aerification |
| Tree planting, - restoration | Used of mycorrhized growing media |
| Spreading into the planting hole |
In the plant roots the hyphae of the fungi start to grow (endomycorrhiza and ericoid mycorrhiza) or the hyphae build a netting outside (ectomycorrhiza).
Mycorrhiza Fungi |
Plant Species |
| Endomycorrhiza | Perennials, many tree species, esp. broad leaf trees |
| Ectomycorrhiza | many tree species, esp. needle trees |
| Ericoid Mycorrhiza | Plants of the Ericaceae family |
Orchids need a special mycorrhiza. Plants of the family Chenopodiaceae, Cruciferaceae and Cyperaceae are non-mycorrhizal. |

Natural production and inner quality of plants get more important in garden and landscaping. Inoculation of plant roots with natural mycorrhiza fungi strengthens the plants sustainably.

INOQ endomycorrhiza products are soil vitalising substances which already in the raising phase help professional gardeners’ plants to a natural symbiosis with useful mycorrhiza symbionts.
The important partners of plants are not contained in customary cultivating substrate. The nutrition of plants during the propagation phase is optimal but already the transfer to the customer is stress.
Gardener and Landscaper often have to guarantee survival rates. Plant losses have to be replaced which is of course cost intensive. The inoculation with INOQ endomycorrhiza products reduces the stress of transplanting and increases the survival rate, thus reducing work and costs!
We produce INOQ endomycorrhiza
products on different carrier materials.
For Garden and Landscaping you can choose according to your application:

The nutrition of plants during the propagation phase is optimal but already the transfer to the customer is stress. But only a vital, long blossoming plant will satisfy the customer. In sales the inoculation with mycorrhiza was mentioned to the customer, who asked for mycorrhized plants in the next season.
The professional gardener will produce healthy plants with INOQ endomycorrhiza products and will satisfy his customers in long terms. Very important is that customary fungicides are tolerated by mycorrhiza fungi.
Tests show positive effects on all plants for beds and balconys!

The recultivation and afforestation of polluted stands, slag heaps or landfills are very important for our environment but very difficult. Especially on sites with very bad soil and climate conditions the application of INOQ endomycorrhiza will lead your recultivation to success.
INOQ endomycorrhiza products are soil vitalising substances which support the survival especially on difficult stands which show bad soil conditions with no active soil life. Also pollutions of the soil will lead to high mortality of plants. On the other hand repeated planting or sowing is labour intensive and often not very promising.
Today we know stands where plants can only survive
because of their mycorrhiza symbiosis. We isolate those
fungi from the stands to use their abilitys to tolerate
pollutants for the plants. In research projects we work
closely with our colleagues at scientific institutes
and universities on these subjects.
The sowing on a steep boulder heap due to the construction of the new Gotthardt tunnel in Switzerland was only successful with application of mycorrhiza. A closed vegetation appeared already in the first year. The impressing results can be seen on the right picture. It is also a very successful recultivation as in the year of the sowing very high temperatures without rainfall were observed.

Roof planting gets more and more popular due to its economic and ecologic advantages, such as reduced renovation and energy costs or substitute for lost landscapes. The additional vegetation is natural habitat for plants and animals on unusual stands. Inoculation with natural mycorrhiza fungi strengthens the plants sustainably.
A roof planting is an isolated stand with no direct contact
to soil. Problems do occur on the extremely difficult site
“Roof”. Heat and dryness alternate with cold and
wetness. A symbiosis with INOQ endomycorrhiza facilitates
these problems for the plants on the roof and helps them to
successfully grow in this extreme living space. Establishment
of the symbiosis between INOQ mycorrhiza and herbaceous plants
lead to increased seedling establishment and better growing
performance. Nutrients and water can be better absorbed.
INOQ endomycorrhiza give vegetation mats the essential vigour
on your roof.
A very good blend of nature and architecture is the new „Hundertwasserbahnhof“ in the city of Uelzen, Germany. Architecture gets a modern aspect with nature, INOQ endomycorrhiza helps nature to vitality!

Golf and sport greens are often excessively used. For the health of the grasses customary tending is not enough.
The active soil life also produces healthy stands and is important for greens. Soil microorganisms like mycorrhiza fungi live in a beneficial partnership with plant roots. Scientific tests show the good results of the application of INOQ endomycorrhiza products: the water consumption is minimized, undesirable gras species are depressed and fertilizer usage can be decreased.
The improved tolerance against drought stress can be shown in impressive trials:

We therefore recommend for a new lawn or for annual inoculation the application of 100 ml/sqm followed by irrigation if necessary. INOQ endomycorrhiza can be spread also under lawn mats.
Greenkeeper can use mycorrhizal fungi to improve the
health and vigour of their turf grass. INOQ mycorrhiza
is ready for application during aeration. Stressed greens
recover rapidly and thus can be used sooner.

to your application:
Trees build a symbiosis with two different mycorrhiza fungi groups. You will find endomycorrhiza but also ectomycorrhiza which is mainly found with forest trees. INOQ Forest contains a blend of various fungi so that the trees can choose the best partner for their symbiosis.

Plant production in nurserys is often difficult because of a low activity of soil microorganisms.Subsequently a high mortality and low growth rates do occur. We work together with nurserys who want to supply their woods already during planting with necessary mycorrhiza fungi. Thus the fungi vitalize the soil and stabilise the plants against stress. Mortality rates decrease and the inner quality of the woods is strengthened.
In Germany tree planting in urban areas is carried out after FLL-Guidelines. The application of mycorrhiza is recommended and often necessary. Preservation of old tree population is particularly important. Compressed soils, road salt and low nutrient contents very often stress old trees in urban areas and parks. Modern on –site- methods bring in the necessary nutrients and air with high pressure. Compressed soils are re-ventilated and the trees are provided with nutrients and air. To guarantee a sustainable success of the method tree caring companys add INOQ mycorrhiza to apply the important mycorrhiza fungi.
